About Me

My photo
I was born in Banff, Canada, and grew up in nearby Canmore. Upon graduation from high school I moved to Calgary where I studied Journalism Arts at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). After graduating from SAIT, I departed on a round-the-world backpacking tour with my brother and sister-in-law. I was waylaid in England when I met Josephine, who I fell in love with and moved to England to be with. Within a year we were married. We lived together in the Georgian city of Bath for five years. While there I worked in and eventually came to manage a small, independent outdoor/travel retail shop. But my desire to capture striking images, particularly of travel, wildlife and the natural world, on film and digital, as well as to write accompanying stories, continued. Over the years my work was published in numerous magazines. Most recently, however, I travelled to Iceland on a three week cycle touring holiday, spent six weeks volunteering on a remote Welsh island for WDCS, and then embarked with Josephine on a ten month travelling stint throughout South America. We have now moved to Vancouver, Canada, the closest we can get to an English climate.

Online Portfolio of Work

The purpose of this Blog spot is to act as a temporary online portfolio of my work until such time as I complete a website. Over a span of 8 years, my articles and photographs have been featured in more than 12 different international publications, including glossy magazines, company newsletters, newspapers, and the Internet. My love of travel and the outdoors is certainly reflected in the kinds of articles published, but I have also dabbled in writing for both newspapers and company newsletters. Some examples of my work can be seen below.
